Short Film Fund for Coastal Filmmakers of BC

The Coastal Communities Film Society is excited to announce the Short Film Fund for Coastal Filmmakers of BC, supporting storytelling from small, rural Tier 1 coastal communities across British Columbia. Our mission is to provide access and resources for filmmakers whose voices are often overlooked due to geographic isolation.

Funding

  • Prize: $1,000 CAD toward the production of a short film
  • Supports scripts or proof-of-concept projects
  • Funding is intended to cover production costs for Tier 1 coastal filmmakers

Eligibility

  • Applicants must reside in a Tier 1 coastal community (see Tier 1 community list)
  • Open to all experience levels: emerging or professional filmmakers
  • Based in rural coastal areas with minimal access to filmmaking infrastructure

  • Brief filmmaker bio and description of how the project reflects local coastal stories
  • Optional: links to previous work, showreels, or portfolios

Submission Fee

A $10 CAD submission fee helps support our nonprofit operations, including bank fees, research, office supplies, and online subscriptions. Fee waivers are available on request for those unable to pay.
